John A. Gallaher, M.D.

John A. Gallaher, later State Geologist of Missouri. He was a graduate of the McDowell Medical College and was in the class of l868-l869. After graduating he returned to Johnson Co. Missouri where he later had coal mines near the small community of Montserrat which he platted. He was a Confederate veteran who had fought and was wounded at Vicksburg. In these photos of him. The woman, in the second photo, is his second wife, Pauline C. Gillum Gallaher and their only daughter Kathryne Gallaher who later married Lonna DesCombes. He also had two sons, Leo and Victor Gallaher, by Pauline's sister Keturah Hall Gillum Gallaher who had died in childbirth. Photos were taken near his death in 1900.
